Leading with the PAC

Overview

The Principal Advisory Council (PAC) brings schools and communities together to solve education problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators, and bring parents into the decision-making process. Councils act as a link between the school and the community, encouraging engagement with stakeholders, increasing transparency, monitoring progress, and participating in the selection of a school’s principal. Each council consists of a minimum of seven members: four parents/guardians, two certified teachers, and the principal. They are elected each fall by parents in an election held by DeKalb County Schools.

More information can be found on the district’s website here.

The Druid Hills Cluster

Avondale PAC members are also members of the Druid Hills Cluster Alliance (including PACs from other schools in the Druid Hills Cluster, Region 2 Superintendent Trenton Arnold, and Region 2 School Board member Marshall Orson) which meets to discuss issues affecting the cluster as a whole, providing opportunity to advocate for the cluster with one voice.
